Greenlight Entertainment was involved with many great weddings last year and we wanted to feature some of the fabulous country wedding ideas we saw last fall (with the permission of the couples, of course!). The best part: these great wedding ideas can be generalized to fit any theme. Hopefully they inspire you!
Idea #1: Create many intimate seating areas for your guests.
By giving your guests many smaller areas of seating they can mingle, catch up with friends and family, let kids play together, settle a fussy child, or just take a quick break while still being part of your wedding reception. The country wedding featured below took place on a rural family farm. The couple arranged many seating areas including the main tent with dining tables as well as a fire pit area with benches, Adirondack chair groupings, and beds made out of hay bales! All of the areas stayed busy most of the night and guests enjoyed the choice of seating.
Idea #2: Decorate with flowers and greens that are in season. If your seasonal choices are too limited, think outside the box.
When flowers are in season and come from a local source they are often fresher and cheaper because they don’t have to be shipped as far, saving you money and worry. If the flowers that are in season don’t exactly fit your color scheme, think about using the in season flowers as fillers so you need to buy fewer of the more expensive flowers. The next featured wedding reception took place at a local country club and featured corn stalks, sunflowers and pumpkins from the family’s farm as decorations leading into the reception venue.
This couple used similar elements in the table decorations – silk sunflowers, orange flowers and dried corn – while bringing in more red, their wedding color, through accent ribbons, table runners and other decorations, like in the photo below.
Idea #3: Mix and match textures.
Spice up a simple design by mixing and matching textures for a more dynamic look. For instance, the wedding below used lace tablecloths with burlap table runners. They also used paper napkins with wooden napkin rings. The variety of textures in the same brown/white color scheme worked very well to mesh feminine and masculine elements and add extra interest to a more simple design.
In the next featured wedding, the couple paired wooden rings with smooth stones and added elements of water and light. This simple decoration incorporates many textures that work well together and are low cost. This design could also be tailored to other themes using glass stones, ribbon, colored candles or even colored water.
